The North Carolina Serve-Learning Coalition (NCSLC) is a statewide network of preschool-graduate school (PreK-20) educators, community partners, students and civic engagement advocates.

The mission of NCSLC is to nurture partnerships among PreK-12, higher education and community organizations to promote, support, advance and sustain high quality service-learning in North Carolina.

The vision of NCSLC is that all North Carolina students become actively engaged citizens as a result of their service-learning experiences.

What is Service-Learning?

A teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities. Community-based service-learning is reciprocal, balancing the goal of student learning with the goal of addressing real needs in the community.
