The NC Service-Learning Coalition had an amazing training in Wilmington North Carolina on May 7th at E.A. Laney High School! This was in so small part to the 50, yes 50!, student presenters and 27 student chefs that prepared our meals that day! Students presented about their service-learning experiences through various mediums: an student written play about bullying, a Project Ignition marketplace of ideas and research, a STEM influenced murder mystery dinner, and more.
The 31 educators from K12 and Higher Education, and community partners from around the Wilmington area all were in for a wonderful half a day of tangible examples of what kind of service-learning projects they could run with their students.
This training concludes our Spring 2013 semester of trainings, with thanks to Communities In Schools of NC and State Farm for funding all three. Check back here throughout the summer for updates on our 2nd Annual NC Service-Learning Summit in the fall of 2013, our trainings for 2014, and news about attending the 25th Annual National Service-Learning Conference in Washington, DC!
