What Will You Bring to the Table?

Bring Table

One of our National Partners, generationOn, is currently running their “What Will You Bring to the Table?” Campaign. Between March 18 and April 30, generationOn will try to raise 1 million meals for kids who don’t have enough eat, and they will also be raising awareness and asking others to generate ideas to solve the childhood hunger issue in the United States.

This is a great opportunity for a service-learning project in schools and communities! generationOn provides many ideas across all ages and not just in a school setting, but also for people and families that want to take charge and start a project on their own.

One cool idea is to build your own table and have discussions at THAT table about how to solve this issue. How to do this and resources for other ideas can be found here.

We encourage you to view their project ideas, and hopefully begin one of your own. By just looking at the website, you’ll become aware that this is an imperative issue in our country and we must work together in our schools and elsewhere to make sure that all students have the necessary food to eat.

In the picture above, these boys held an event to raise awareness as well as receive donations for their local food bank. At then end of their event they raised a total of 2,800 meals and even wrote letters to elected officials to encourage them to be advocates for local food banks. Oh and they played laser tags and other fun games! Service-learning can be fun and very productive!
